“Breathing is life”, according to Sri T. Krishnamacharya and Sri K. Pattabhi Joi’s teachings.
The so-called ujjay breathing is a deep breath when you breathe through your nose, fill your lungs with air and breathe out through your nose.
One way to “find the breath” may be to imagine that the hand is a mirror. Breath on the “mirror” like you doing steam, first with open mouth, and then the same with the mouth closed. After that you do the same but breathe both in and out, with your mouth closed, keep “tension” of your throat.
(We will review this on the weekend course)
Each asana (movement) requires either an in-or-out breath, which makes it a rhythm that causes you to flow in your movements (asanas).
